This workshop will cover some of the unique fundamental ethical and business elements of running a private practice in Israel. The workshop is geared toward new and seasoned therapists alike.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
- Therapeutic contracts: Why is it important for the client and for the therapist? What should be included in the contract?
- Ethical will: What is it, why do we need it, and how to set it up
- Billing issues: Raising prices and collecting overdue payments
- Working within your professional competence: Knowing when and how to refer out / seeking help from other professionals
- Working in small communities: Boundary Issues
- Initial consultation: Screening clients / informed consent
- Client termination initiated by the therapist
- Accounting - Understanding how to best structure your business / Osek Patur, Osek Morshe, and Chevra B'Am
- Record Keeping: Therapeutic, financial, etc.
Alyson Aviv, Ph.D, ABPdN
Dr. Aviv a bilingual licensed clinical psychologist and the only American board certified pediatric neuropsychologist in Israel and the Middle East. Dr. Aviv sees local and international patients and their families at her diagnostic and treatment clinic in Raanana and is currently the only Israeli provider of COGMED, evidence based cognitive therapy program for individuals with poor working memory, a common weakness in children and adults who have been diagnosed with ADHD. She has published papers and given a variety of workshops, lectures, and presentations internationally and locally, and consults regularly with educational institutions and organizations. Dr. Aviv was elected to serve on the board of the American Academy of Pediatric Neuropsychology - the first non-US resident elected to this esteemed board.
Tanya Prochko, MEd, MFT
Tanya is the founder and director of Get Help Israel - The Israel Association of Mental Health Professionals, which to date has helped over 70,000 people globally find the right help and improve their quality of life. Her broad experience in working in government-funded agencies and community clinics in the US as well as her current private practice in Jerusalem guides her in providing services that fulfil the needs of the public when seeking help as well as the needs of the professional members of the organization. In addition to her private practice with a focus on the treatment of trauma, Tanya provides consultation services to mental health professionals in building a successful private practice in Israel.
David Dan, CPA
David is an experienced CPA specializing in international taxation of Toshavim Hozrim and Olim and their related businesses through the Business IL program (Ministry of Aliyah and Integration). Currently a Senior Partner at Asnin-Dan Accountancy, David’s experience spans a range of roles, including director of corporate finance, Financial Controller and previously, as an accountant with PWC. David served as a university lecturer in an international MBA program. David was also heavily involved in the development of Israel’s olim taxation exemption laws and has immense understanding of both the law and its actual enforcement by Israeli tax authorities.
