ABOUT

I am a licensed clinical psychologist, certified DBT trainer for Behavioral Tech, and director of Modi'in Behavioral, a private group practice specializing in evidence-based therapy, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Exposure-Based therapies for adolescents, adults, parents, and families. We offer comprehensive individual DBT services, as well as an adult skills group and a multi-family group for adolescent clients.

Before making aliyah, I served as a clinical psychologist and supervisor at Cognitive Behavioral Associates, a group private practice in Great Neck, NY, which is co-directed by Jill Rathus, Ph.D., an internationally recognized expert in both CBT and DBT and certified DBT trainer responsible for co-developing the adolescent adaptation of DBT. In addition to working with individuals and families struggling with more common issues of anxiety, depression, OCD, and relationship problems, my clinical experience includes treating clients considered to be difficult to treat and many who have been assumed to be beyond the pale of help, such as those struggling with extreme emotional distress, complex problems, multiple diagnoses, problems resulting from traumatic incidents, as well as those struggling with suicidality and self-injurious behavior.

I seek to provide compassionate and effective treatment in an inclusive, friendly, and warm environment. I specialize in evidence-based therapeutic approaches designed to assist my clients in leading more skillful and fulfilling lives by constructing interventions that utilize their personal strengths in the therapeutic process. By employing evidence-based approaches that are fine-tuned to the needs, concerns, and strengths of my clientele, it is my goal to help each of my clients experience dramatic improvements in their daily lives as quickly as possible. I truly love what I do, and I am acutely aware of the degree of responsibility that comes when individuals entrust me with their care or the care of a loved one. I look forward to the opportunity of collaborating with you, and I hope that we can develop a relationship that benefits you for years to come.

TREATMENT APPROACH

BehaviorismBehaviorism is an approach to psychology that emphasizes the role of the environment in shaping behavior. It is based on the assumption that behavior is determined by environmental influences, such as reinforcements and punishments, rather than by internal influences, such as thoughts and feelings.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on how one's thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected and can be changed. It is based on the idea that how we think (cognition) and how we feel (emotion) can influence how we behave. CBT helps people identify and challenge distorted thinking and replace it with more balanced thinking, leading to improved mood and behavior. ‘Homework’, usually containing practical writing exercises, is often completed by the client between sessions to reinforce the therapy. Examples of tools that practitioners often use are journaling, challenging beliefs, and mindfulness.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy developed by Marsha Linehan to help people learn to better manage and cope with emotions and stress. It focuses on developing skills and strategies to help regulate emotions, improve relationships and communication, and reduce self-destructive behaviors. Through DBT, people learn to identify and modify unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, while also learning to accept and validate their own feelings. DBT teaches skills to help individuals become aware of and accept and regulate their emotions, tolerate distress, and improve interpersonal relationships.
