Attendees must possess an MA or higher in the mental health field to attend the course.  Certificates of completion will be issued by The Israel Association of Mental Health Professionals upon completion of the course.

Course Overview

About the Treatment Model: SEE FAR CBT

The model integrates the latest and most effective trauma treatment methods:

  • Somatic Experiencing (SE) – A method focusing on "body memory" (Van der  Kolk, Rothschild, Levine).
  • FR – Based on the Fantastic Reality model (Lahad), rooted in the approaches  of Winnicott and Jennings.
  • CBT – Theories from Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy.
  • Prolonged Exposure (PE) – Reality-based experiences and imagined recreations (Foa).

The model has been tested in the treatment of individuals suffering from PTSD due to rape, robbery, traffic accidents, domestic violence, terrorism, war, and military service.

Key Principles of the Treatment Model:

  • Trauma memories cannot be "erased."
  • Traumatic memories may frighten or sadden, but they are not dangerous.
  • Imagination-based recreation is essential for significant symptom relief.
  • Real-world exposure (In Vivo) is crucial for learning to control anxiety.
  • Without a clear cost to avoidance, there will be no motivation to heal.

Research Findings:

  • In comparison with EMDR treatment for adults (16+), SEE FAR CBT was found to be equally effective. Follow-up after one year showed that SEE FAR  CBT patients continued to improve.
  • For children aged 8 and above, the method proved more effective than CBT alone.
  • NATO has adopted the method for training professionals across Europe and former Soviet states.
  • The model is used for over 22 years in Israel and abroad; it has been applied to PTSD cases involving terrorism, missile attacks, rape, robbery, traffic accidents, domestic violence, war, and military service.
