ABOUT THE THERAPIST

Senior Psychotherapy for Trauma & Life Transitions | 30+ Years Experience | Be'er Sheva & Online

My Approach to Helping:

I use an integrative and trauma-informed approach that respects the complexity of each individual's journey. My foundation is built on Psychodynamic theory from my studies at Heidelberg University, which allows us to explore the deeper 'why' behind long-standing patterns and emotional distress. However, I believe that insight must be balanced with stability. Therefore, I incorporate CBT and trauma-focused strategies (from my training at Metiv) to provide practical tools for managing anxiety and building resilience in the present.

My years as a Psychiatric Head Nurse have also given me a holistic, medically-informed perspective, making me comfortable helping clients navigate even the most acute and complex mental health crises. Above all, I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental harbor where the therapeutic relationship itself becomes a tool for healing. I am especially dedicated to supporting the Olim community, offering a culturally sensitive space in English, German, or Hebrew.

Specific Issues I'm Skilled at Helping With:

Trauma & Complex PTSD: Specialized evidence-based treatment for those dealing with past or recent trauma.

Life Transitions & Aliyah Stress: Helping English and German speakers navigate the emotional challenges of relocation and identity.

Complex Mental Health: Using my background as a Psychiatric Head Nurse to support those dealing with psychosis, bipolar disorder, or severe depression.

Grief and Loss: Providing a compassionate framework for processing bereavement.

My Role as a Therapist:

I see my role as providing a safe, steady 'containment' for my clients. With over three decades of experience, including years managing acute psychiatric wards, I am comfortable sitting with intense emotions and complex crises. I don't just listen; I am an active partner in your healing. My role is to be a bridge—between your past and your future, and between your deep psychological roots and your current need for stability. I provide a culturally sensitive 'anchor' for the international community in Israel, offering a space where you can be understood in your native German or English. I am here to help you navigate the 'storm' with a calm, expert hand, empowering you to find your own path to resilience.

Additional Information About my Practice:

Having lived and worked in Germany, the United States (Miami), and Israel, I bring a deeply multicultural perspective to my practice. I personally understand the 'global nomad' experience and the unique psychological challenges of navigating multiple cultures and languages.

TREATMENT APPROACH

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on how one's thoughts, feelings and behaviors are connected and can be changed. It is based on the idea that how we think (cognition) and how we feel (emotion) can influence how we behave. CBT helps people identify and challenge distorted thinking and replace it with more balanced thinking, leading to improved mood and behavior. ‘Homework’, usually containing practical writing exercises, is often completed by the client between sessions to reinforce the therapy. Examples of tools that practitioners often use are journaling, challenging beliefs, and mindfulness.

Psychodynamic TherapyPsychodynamic therapy is a form of therapy that focuses on the unconscious mind and how it affects behavior. It works to help people understand and work through past experiences and feelings that may be causing difficulties in the present. This type of therapy encourages individuals to explore their emotions, relationships, and behaviors in order to gain insight into their current difficulties. It can help individuals better understand themselves and their motivations, and gain insight into how past events have impacted their current lives. People tend to develop defense mechanisms when faced with challenges in life. Defense mechanisms may keep painful feelings, memories, and experiences in the unconscious. A few common defense mechanisms include: denial, repression, and rationalization. Psychodynamic therapists encourage people to speak freely about their emotions, desires, and fears. Being open may help uncover vulnerable feelings that have been pushed out of conscious awareness. According to psychodynamic theory, behavior is influenced by unconscious thought. Once painful feelings are brought forth and processed, the defense mechanisms are no longer needed and a person in treatment can start changing unhelpful patterns when coping with life’s challenges.
