My name is Ally Root, and I am a clinical art therapist. I was born and raised in New Jersey, and immigrated to Israel in 2012. I have a bachelor's degree (BS) in psychology and art from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a masters' degree (MA) in art therapy from The School of Visual Arts in NYC. I offer individual and group art therapy to adults, adolescents, and children in central Israel in both English and Hebrew.
My professional experience has been primarily focused on treating individuals, (primarily adolescents and women) who struggle with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, histories of trauma and abuse, adjustment disorders, and addiction. I also have extensive experience working with children and families, including children with learning and developmental disabilities, and I offer hadrachat horim (parental guidance) in conjunction to art therapy with children and teens. In addition to my work at my private clinic, I work as an art therapist at a middle school for children with psychiatric diagnoses, and a residential boarding home for teenagers who live with mental illness. My approach is client-centered and adopts elements of Jungian psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Art Therapy, and Humanistic Therapy.
