Event Overview
“Freedom through Commitment” is a documentary film by Couples Therapist and student of marriage, Dr Melanie Landau.
The film takes a touching, intimate view inside long term committed partnerships. It explores conflict and repair in relationships, the capacity of individuals to self-soothe and to face themselves and their own patterns. It is informative and relevant for therapists and all people who are in, have been in, or want to be in a relationship.
This live screening will include several segments from the film “Freedom through Commitment” as well as discussion with the Director, Dr. Melanie Landau, and several of the couples who are also couple therapists and coaches who are featured in the film.

Melanie Landau, MA, Ph.D
An avid lover of life, explorer of love, devotee of the sacred depths and mystery, Dr Melanie Landau was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, and has lived for the last 14 years in Jerusalem. She wrote her Ph.D thesis on conditional marriage in Jewish law.
Melanie is a couples therapist who combines differentiation based therapy with somatic approaches. She has also trained in Somatic Experiencing and Family Constellations, as well as in Somatic Sexual Coaching. She has led workshops and retreats in Israel, Sinai and Australia. Workshops have included: Feminine Pathways to the Divine, Womb Heart Journeys, Opening to Pleasure, and Towards Earned Secure Attachment.
Her work transcends the individual, embodying a vision of interconnected healing where both personal and collective wounds can be transformed into sources of strength and resilience.
