Always Anxious
Hi, I've been dealing with anxiety for as long as I can remember. I've been through years of therapy and learned some really good coping skills, but I still feel physically anxious a lot of the time, even though there is objectively nothing to feel anxious about. It feels like the anxiety has a mind of it's own and even if I'm objectively safe, I still feel anxious and restless in my body. Do you think I'll have to live like this forever? Is there anything I can do to feel calmer in my body?
Hi there! First, I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Second, I'm glad you have skills in your "tool box" but it seems like they're not holding you the way you need and want. I wonder if you have recently had a physical checkup with blood work, etc. just to make sure there's nothing physiological at play. I'm talking a regular exam here, nothing more. Next, I wonder if you have met or have considered meeting with a psychiatrist to discuss anti-anxiety medication. The tools you have are probably really good ones, but sometimes we need a little more help than even the best tips can provide. I'm happy to talk more if you'd like. I think reaching out was a wonderful expression of self care, so good for you. All the best, Rachel
