ABOUT

I'm a fully bilingual and professionally trained Expressive Arts Therapist, Mental Health Counselor, and Dyadic Therapist in private clinical practice in Ra'anana. I work with children from four years through the early pre-teen years in a medium that allows me to reach their inner worlds through a therapeutic process using music, movement, art, drama, storytelling, and play. Together, we build the foundations of a healthy relationship based upon trust, working through emotional barriers to reach each child's unique potential. In addition to my clinical practice, I work as a therapist in the Ra'anana educational system. I counsel children from pre-kindergarten through junior high school with a variety of learning disabilities, anxiety disorders, and a full range of emotional issues including: transitional adjustment issues, emotional regulation and sensory issues, as well as body image and self esteem issues. Much of my work includes children who have been diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). My approach as a therapist is collaborative - both providing a voice for the child, as well as empowering the parents to advocate vis-a-vis the Israeli school system for the needs of their child. My experience maneuvering through the myriad complexities within this system can help alleviate much confusion and frustration for both parents and children. Combined with bi-cultural understanding, fluency in both Hebrew and English, and a desire to address the specific therapeutic needs of the English-speaking population in the Sharon region, my goal as a therapist is to bridge our work that takes place in the safety of the clinic with the practical realities of the outside world. It is my aim to provide the children in my clinic with a safe therapeutic environment in which to strengthen and grow - equipping parents with additional emotional tools and a renewed expanded understanding to navigate through the complex emotional terrain together, with compassion and confidence, for the benefit of the child. I invite you to visit my clinic at the entrance to the moshav of Givat Chen at the edge of Ra'anana. For a personal consult please contact me at 054-4290831.

TREATMENT APPROACH

Expressive Arts TherapyExpressive Arts Therapy is particularly beneficial for clients who struggle with describing what they are feeling verbally. Through imagination and creation of different art forms, clients are able to interpret and communicate their inner world and catalyze healing. Expressive arts therapy can involve the use of multiple modalities, such as visual arts, music, movement, drama, storytelling, poetry, and play. It is used to help individuals of all ages, including children and adults, to explore their feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior and addictions, develop social skills, improve reality orientation, and solve problems.

Psychodynamic TherapyPsychodynamic therapy is a form of therapy that focuses on the unconscious mind and how it affects behavior. It works to help people understand and work through past experiences and feelings that may be causing difficulties in the present. This type of therapy encourages individuals to explore their emotions, relationships, and behaviors in order to gain insight into their current difficulties. It can help individuals better understand themselves and their motivations, and gain insight into how past events have impacted their current lives. People tend to develop defense mechanisms when faced with challenges in life. Defense mechanisms may keep painful feelings, memories, and experiences in the unconscious. A few common defense mechanisms include: denial, repression, and rationalization. Psychodynamic therapists encourage people to speak freely about their emotions, desires, and fears. Being open may help uncover vulnerable feelings that have been pushed out of conscious awareness. According to psychodynamic theory, behavior is influenced by unconscious thought. Once painful feelings are brought forth and processed, the defense mechanisms are no longer needed and a person in treatment can start changing unhelpful patterns when coping with life’s challenges.
