Lieve Rutten MAPsychotherapist
We are wired for growth, healing and awakening. Our mind, body and heart have limitless capacity for recovery and it is my passion as a therapist to support these natural processes.
During difficult times in life and especially after traumatic experiences, you might find it hard to be in the present and to connect with yourself and others. Therefore it is important to create a safe space in which your nervous system can relax. During the session we listen closely to any emotional and physical reactions that arise, without judging them or going too much into stories. It is also my task to unveil possible self-sabotaging beliefs that are holding you back from achieving what you want. Our behavior is often directed by defense mechanisms that we adopted early in life and by unconscious beliefs that we hold about our self. Transforming these limiting beliefs is an important first step in creating a life that is in line with who you really are.
Therapy is a process of liberation and coming home. By gradually freeing yourself from layers of locked energy and old patterns, you will start to feel more in your body again, accept yourself more and come home to the love and peace within you.
Born in Belgium, I earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and a specialization degree in Person-centered & Experiential psychotherapy. A few years later, I deepened these skills with an additional training in Emotion Focused Therapy.
I have over 10 years of experience in supporting clients with:
post-traumatic stress (mainly after sexual abuse and family violence)
grief after loss of a loved one, loss of health, abortion, …
integration of spiritual experiences
Today, I offer individual therapy sessions in the beautiful and green setting of our home near the sea in Beit Yanai. Dedicated to true healing, I keep on studying and also incorporate insights from other fields like physiology, neuroscience and attachment theory.
